The Spanish Association of Defence, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies ( TEDAE) and the Asturias Technology Business Association for the Development of the Defence the Defence Industry (Asturias HUB Defence) have signed this morning a specific collaboration agreement aimed at establishing a cooperation framework to coordinate activities and efforts aimed at the technological development of the Spanish defence industry.
This framework will allow for effective coordination between the two associations, as well as to unify regional criteria and strategies with guidelines defined at national level by TEDAE.
With the signing of this agreement, both associations undertake to promote the exchange of information, coordination of activities and reciprocal collaboration in the promotion of Asturian companies in international markets.
The agreement also aims to contribute to the promotion of the sector ‘s image both nationally and internationally by national and international level through an effective coordination of strategies, objectives and actions to be carried out. Both associations are also committed to promote and disseminate good practices and ethical good practices and ethical behaviour among their members.
The agreement was signed by the president of TEDAE, Ricardo Martí Fluxá, and the President of the Asturias Technology Business Association for the Development of the Defence Industry of Asturias, Ángel de Álvaro, at an event which was also attended by Borja Sánchez García, Regional Minister of Science, Innovation and University of the Government of the Principality of Asturias.
Ricardo Martí Fluxá, President of TEDAE, stresses that “this agreement reinforces TEDAE’s collaboration with the regional clusters of the defence, as well as working together to consolidate a defence industrial base that is a driving force for the economy, indispensable for the generation of employment and prosperity in Asturias and Spain”.
“The agreement between the two associations strengthens joint action and will contribute to Asturias consolidation as a development and innovation pole for the defence industry, an activity that is historically linked to this community and to which thousands of Asturians contribute”, said Ángel de Álvaro, president of the Asturias Technology Business Association for the Asturias for the Development of the Defence Industry (Asturias HUB Defence). In this respect recalled that Asturias is the sixth autonomous community with the highest number of contracting by the Ministry of Defence, according to its own statistics.
For his part, the Regional Minister of Science, Innovation and University of the Principality, Borja Sánchez García, recalled that “the network of Asturian technology companies, organised under this defence hub, represents an opportunity for their developments and innovations to have a knock-on effect have a tractor effect on other industrial sectors. This agreement with TEDAE will be a crucial support to boost this industry and to reach much larger and ambitious projects, both nationally and internationally.
