We started our journey in the European project Aileen
Asturias Hub Defensa is pleased to announce its participation as a partner in AILEEN, a project funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program. The project was launched on June 19 , 2023 with the kick-off meeting for the 2023 with the initial meeting for the entire consortium in Oeiras (Portugal).
AILEEN is the acronym of the project title: centers of vocAtIonaL Excellence in aErospace defence for advanced maNufacturing
The European aerospace and defense industry is suffering from a shortage of skilled personnel.
AILEEN ‘ s main objective is therefore to, mitigate this shortage by establishing systematic conditions for quality assurance in vocational education and training in the seven participating countries (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom). Provide specialized sectoral training, including the transfer of localized and technical know-how in advanced manufacturing with special attention to the aerospace and defense industry.
AILEEN ‘ s goal is to create Centers of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Advanced Manufacturing (AF) across Europe, providing the necessary skills and expertise to foster growth and innovation in the sector.
AILEEN also intends to implement EU-recognized qualification systems in welding and additive manufacturing using a modular approach. This approach will leverage existing EU transparency frameworks, such as EQF, ECVET, EURES, EQAVET and ESCO, to improve and harmonize training standards.
Work-based learning (WBL) approaches and problem-based learning (PBL) methodologies will be central to the training activities, fostering practical skills and hands-on experiences. In addition, AILEEN will leverage digital tools, including augmented/virtual reality training, to capitalize on EU advanced manufacturing initiatives.
AILEEN is a four year project that started in June 2023 and is supported by an impressive has an impressive EU global grant of 2.837.147,00€. The project brings together 18 prestigious partners in seven countries, all of them committed to strengthening the aerospace and defense sector, and is led by the prestigious European Welding Federation (EWF).
CoVES is an initiative of the European Union to promote innovation and excellence in vocational and excellence in vocational education and training, bringing together a wide range of local partners, VET providers, entrepreneurs, chambers of commerce, research centers, development agencies, employment services and social partners (among others), to jointly create”ecosystems of competencies” that contribute to regional economic and social development, innovation and smart specialization strategies.
