
The Asturias Hub Defence incorporates Indra Group, Piedrafita and The Next Pangea to strengthen the industrial and technological ecosystem of the region.
Gijón, 30th January 2026. – Asturias Hub Defence, business association of technology in Asturias a14> Asturias for the development of the defence industry, announces the incorporation of three new strategic entities: Indra Group, Piedrafita Systems and The Next Pangea.
This expansion of the Hub represents a significant step forward in consolidating Asturias as a key hub for the defence industry in Spain, with highly significant leading companies. In this way, the association is promoting its mission to connect industry, innovation and talent, encouraging public-private collaboration and the development of high-impact projects.
“The incorporation of Indra Group, Piedrafita Systems and The Next Pangea brings together a particularly valuable combination in the Hub: first-class industrial capabilities, specialised solutions for land platforms and disruptive technological innovation. In this way, we are consolidating the growth of the regional ecosystem in defence, security and dual technologies and reinforcing our ambition to promote collaboration between the national defence industry with a real impact from Asturias,” explains Carolina Díaz, director of the Asturias Defence Hub.
Indra Group, a global technology leader in defence, security and critical systems, has an ambitious expansion plan in Asturias, which includes consolidating a production centre in Gijón and a commitment to generating quality, stable employment. The company plans to increase its workforce in the region to 850 professionals by 2027.
For its part, Piedrafita Systems, a company with a solid track record in the development and integration of technological solutions for advanced military vehicles, and with the opening of a centre for New Technologies in the region, seeks to share its capabilities in digitisation of systems, traceability and predictive maintenance predictive, as well as in the integration of critical systems for defence, promoting the transfer of knowledge and fostering collaborative innovation.
The Asturian technology-based company The Nex Pangea joins the ecosystem to strengthen the field of artificial intelligence applications and new materials applied to production and maintenance optimisation, as well as new advanced sensor technology, all of which already have applications in the Air and Space Force.
“These additions mark a turning point: Asturias does not want to merely participate in the defence industry of defence, it wants to lead strategic capabilities capabilities. From the Hub, we are going to accelerate the implementation of a series of a23> initiatives that generate impact on industry and technological autonomy, placing the region on the national and international radar,”, concludes Díaz.
