Asturias Hub Defence holds its General Assembly for 2026 at the Regional Office of Defence in Oviedo

The association of defence sector companies in Asturias, Asturias Defence Hub, held its Annual General Meeting today, 28 May, at the headquarters of the Defence Delegation in the Principality of Asturias, in Oviedo. The meeting brought together representatives from member companies and the defence ecosystem, consolidating the hub’s role as a key player in the sector’s industrial and technological development in the region.

During the Assembly’s closed-door session, a review was conducted of the activities carried out throughout 2025, a year characterised by a packed schedule of events, participation in national and international forums, and the promotion of defence-related innovation projects.

In terms of the ecosystem’s growth, the hub continues to attract interest from new technology and industrial companies, with more than 40 firms expressing an interest in joining in 2025 and new applications being received in 2026, reflecting the sector’s growing dynamism in Asturias.

The occasion was also used to introduce the new companies that joined the hub in April.

The Assembly’s public event featured a presentation by Mr Víctor Riobó Otero, Head of the Industrial Management Division of the Sub-Directorate General for Defence Industrial Strategy (DIGEID), who discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the defence industry in the current climate.

Afterwards, the attendees took part in a guided tour of the facilities of the Defence Ministry, led by reservists and veterans, which enabled them to learn about first-hand first-hand experience of the capabilities and operations of this organisation. The conference concluded with a session dedicated tonetworking which encouraged the exchange of knowledge and the creation of new opportunities for collaboration between the participants.

Looking ahead, Asturias Hub Defensa will continue to work on consolidating its position at both national and international level, with plans to participate in major industry events throughout 2026, as well as promoting innovation and cooperation initiatives that strengthen the competitiveness of its member companies
